ONLINE WORKSHOP ON CRITICAL MAPPING: CITIES THAT SPEAK / STREETS THAT SPEAK!

Cities can be understood as living organisms that evolve, grow or decay under the influence of various factors. The transformations of contemporary cities are rapid and the meaning of public space is in a way constantly under negotiation. How can we observe this contemporary changing urban landscape beyond the traditional objective depiction of it on a map as we know it? What is psychogeography and critical mapping and how can we explore the urban landscape by identifying its subjective and social aspects?

Public space is shaped by the people who use it, and is potentially a site of conflict and confrontation over its meaning. In this workshop we will focus more on the city walls that are part of public space. On the street, after all, things are constantly changing and it might be interesting to observe this change and why not find a way to capture it.

The workshop will take place on Saturday 19 November at 17:00 via Zoom, facilitated by Lydia Pantziou (MAKE USE). It is the second in a series of workshops that will take place free of charge via the website https://makeuse.gr/, which aims to function as a virtual (until it becomes a real one) youth centre.

The link will be sent after the form is completed.
