The Importance of MAKE (N)USE: Writing with Purpose

by Thanos Kiratzis

As trainer of the MAKE (N)USE program, I had the opportunity to witness firsthand the power hidden in written speech. We live in an era where information overwhelms us daily, often in a way that confuses us or discourages us. The need to filter, understand, and shape our own narratives has never been more critical. This is the central point of the program: to provide the necessary tools for substantive and effective writing, adapted to each medium and audience.

What does this mean in practice? At the MAKE (N)USE workshops, we do not simply teach writing techniques. We create a space where participants understand how words can influence, inform, and inspire. Together, we explore the elements of good writing, strong articles, and effective posts. We emphasize clarity, persuasiveness, and authenticity, while boosting the confidence of every individual who wants to express themselves in written form.

The significance of the MAKE (N)USE program goes beyond its technical aspect of writing. It is a program that encourages critical thinking, conscious communication, and creativity. It does not only teach participants how to write but also why they should write. It helps them find their own voice, understand the power of their narratives, and use them responsibly and imaginatively.

In a world where words can create bridges or raise walls, the MAKE (N)USE program provides the tools for using written speech with purpose and substance. And this, to me, is invaluable.
