On 5 June 2020, our group participated in the actions for World Environment Day, along with thousands of other young people from the Mediterranean (through the collaboration with the Atelier des Jeunes Citoyens de la Méditerranée).
The idea was to organise an action in a public space and to combine it with a clean-up that would get rid of the litter of this location.
Our group quickly came up with the thought that an action alone was not enough. That a way should be found, a new example should be set for the citizens of the city, in order to slowly create a change in our culture, both in the use of public spaces and in the management of waste.
We designed a small eco-friendly kit and 500 pieces were made by our hands. First, we used it that day on a section of the Pinios river bank, combining it with an open Tai Chi workshop. The response of those who came was very positive and in the following days we handed out the kit in various places in the city (mostly places where people of our age hang out). Our kit became a success locally (we often renewed the kits in different places) and received very nice messages from people.
In this video, made by Penelope Brachou and translated into English by Thanos Kyriatzis, some of our team members talk about the idea and the experience of participating.

We invite you to share it freely and contribute in this simple way to change the mindset of more and more people around us.
